MIPPA - Low Income Subsidy

LIS "Extra Help" Program

The Low Income Subsidy (LIS), also known as "Extra Help" program helps Medicare Part D beneficiaries pay for their monthly prescription drug benefits. Do you have limited resources & income?  Do you have to choose between your monthly prescriptions and other expenses?  If so, the Extra Help program is for you!  If you qualify, you will save on your Medicare Part D premiums, deductible and will not have a coverage gap (also called the "doughnut hole").  Overall, you will be paying much less for your prescriptions each month.

Save on your medication co-pays!  Generic medications will be no more than $2.55* each.  Brand name medications will be no more than $6.35* each.  The Extra Help will also pay most or all of your monthly premium for Medicare Part D and will help keep you out of the coverage gap known as the 'doughnut hole'.

You must have Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) and/or Medicare Part B (Supplementary Medical Insurance). Your income must be less than $17,505* if single and $23,595* if married. Additionally, the value of your resources must be less than $13,440* if single and $26,860* if married.
